Episode 5: Black Men Create the Worst Stereotypes for Black Women to Endure

It’s okay to feel like he’s gotten the best of you. But know that there’s plenty of worth and potential remaining in the rest of you. Once you get away for good, you’ll be able to heal in ways you couldn’t before. You’ll know what it feels like to have someone genuinely love you.

You could be successful, and in this man’s mind he still can’t let you be you. Who he understands you to be doesn’t deserve anything of the sort, though his favorite non-black women do.

To pray for our people. And the wisdom to know when to walk away.

But when you make men the center of your existence, especially if he’s a black man who has a limited sense and understanding of power, nothing you believe about yourself remains is objective. Or real.

Who wants to live a life like that, especially when collectively, your own people men see you as useless?

Everything he makes you feel you’ve failed at is part of a lesson he has yet to learn. This isn’t an excuse for him, far from it. It’s to say you didn’t fail him, he failed himself. Making sure your daughter marries better than you did is nothing to look down at. Neither is no longer tolerating mental and emotional abuse at the hands of your culture.
